“We Don’t See Ourselves as Saviors.” - A Conversation About Bridal Shows, Vegas, and Rebuilding Trust

Chamber President, Brian Mills, and Forever & Company Owner, Mark Bentley, Discuss the Newest Bridal Show in Vegas

If you’ve spent any real time in the Las Vegas wedding industry, you already carry opinions about bridal shows.

I do too. I attended them when I was engaged. I exhibited in them starting in 2010. And now, as President of the Vegas Wedding Chamber , I hear the same question repeatedly from vendors:

Are bridal shows still worth it?

That question has only gotten louder since the long-running gold standard of Vegas Bridal Shows, the Bridal Spectacular, ended and another company with a presence in Oregon immediately failed and put a serious black eye on the "Vegas Bridal Show" image. Skepticism here is understandable.

Their crown jewel is the award-winning Triangle Wedding Show , named after the Triangle Research area of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina . "North Carolina? In the Wedding Capital of the World?", I thought. The entire State of North Carolina did approximately 65,000 Weddings in 2023, 10,000 less than Clark County that year. But as I looked further, I noticed 2 things:

But I was still skeptical. While I did enjoy meeting Mark and his team, I felt I couldn't say whether our Members should take a shot or not. Their model is solid, rooted in data and history. Forever & Company's original owners did their first Bridal Show in 1995, a family-owned business that weathered the hard times of COVID, and then decided it was time to sell to Mark and his team so they could retire a few years ago. That should feel familiar to the Las Vegas Vendors. So there is a parallel history. Now I wanted to know more.

When I sat down for a phone conversation with Mark Bentley , owner of Forever & Company , I didn’t want a pitch. I wanted to understand how someone from outside the Las Vegas wedding market thinks about stepping into it — especially after everything that’s happened here.

What follows is that conversation, so you can hear directly from Mark and decide for yourself.

The Conversation

Clearing the Air

Brian Mills:
Before we go anywhere else, I want to clear up any confusion. After Bridal Spectacular retired, another company tried to enter the Vegas market and some local vendors were burned. Just to be clear — Forever & Company had nothing to do with that, correct?

Mark Bentley:
Correct. We’re a completely different company and have no association with them at all.

On Taking Over Forever & Company

Brian Mills:
You’ve run a very successful bridal show in North Carolina for years. Can you talk about how Forever & Company started and how you ended up taking it over?

Mark Bentley:
Yeah. It’s honestly my honor to have taken over Forever & Company from the original founders. This is the 30th year of the show in Raleigh. The city has changed a lot over those decades, and the show consistently did very well.

COVID was hard on all of us, and wedding shows were no exception. The previous owners had been grinding for a very long time, especially through COVID, and they were exhausted. It felt like a natural moment for someone else to step in.

My background is marketing. I also run an event company. A wedding show is really both of those things combined, so it made sense. I took over in August of 2023, and a big part of my role has been rebuilding — keeping what worked for 25-plus years, but refreshing the branding, infrastructure, and systems for the next 25.

Why Las Vegas?

Brian Mills:
Vegas wasn’t originally on your radar. What made you take a serious look at this market?

Mark Bentley:
Honestly, Vegas wasn’t on our expansion list at first. But when we heard what had happened here — and when Bridal Spectacular ended — our hearts really went out to the community.

We see wedding shows as partnerships. It’s not just vendors paying us money. When a show is done well, vendors thrive, and when vendors thrive, the whole community benefits. That’s a really important tool in the wedding ecosystem.

So we started looking into the data. We wanted to make sure this wasn’t just a good-intentions move, but a smart one. Our hearts were there, but we needed to know the show could actually work here.

Learning From the Past

Brian Mills:
You also took time to meet with Debra Hansen , who ran Bridal Spectacular for decades. What did you take away from that conversation?

Mark Bentley:
We definitely wanted to talk with Debra as part of our due diligence. One thing that was immediately clear was that her heart was in the right place. She viewed the show as a value-add to the wedding community, which aligns very closely with how we see things.

What really stood out was how strong the existing Vegas wedding community already is. We don’t see ourselves as saviors. We see ourselves as partners. There was already something solid here — we’re not trying to build from scratch.

Familiar, But Intentionally Different

Size, Scale, and Metrics

Brian Mills:

This is also a one-day show instead of two. Can you talk about your numbers and goals?

Mark Bentley:

Our goal is about 100 vendors. We’re flexible, but that’s the sweet spot. For attendance, we’re aiming for roughly 2,500 tickets sold and about 1,000 to 1,250 couples actually walking through the doors. We have over 2,100 tickets reserved right now which is great! We are on track for 2,500-2,800+ tickets which typically gets us to our 1,000+ attendee target. There are still pre-sale tickets for $10 on the website, the price at the door will be $20 .

If it’s too big, it becomes overwhelming. You can only have so many meaningful conversations in four hours. We design the show around that reality. We also focus heavily on filtering the right couples before they walk in. That way vendors aren’t doing all the filtering on the show floor.

Are Bridal Shows Still Relevant?

Brian Mills:
With digital marketing, social media, and SEO, a lot of vendors ask whether bridal shows are still relevant at all.

Mark Bentley:
No matter how advanced technology gets, it will never replace face-to-face trust. Weddings are deeply personal. They’re often the most expensive thing a couple has paid for in their life up to that point.

You can have a great website and great social media, but that doesn’t replace meeting someone in person. And it goes both ways. A couple might look great on email, but when you meet them, you realize they’re not the right fit — and that matters too. Those in-person interactions are incredibly valuable for both sides.

Designing for Better Conversations

Brian Mills:
What do you do to help vendors actually connect, instead of just handing out cards?

Mark Bentley:
We focus on reducing stress — for vendors and couples. Load-in, load-out, communication, parking, check-in — all of it matters.

We also build a central lounge area right in the middle of the show. Seating, décor, usually a bar or drink options. Couples can sit down, relax, and reset.

When couples aren’t stressed or overwhelmed, conversations are better. Most bookings don’t happen at the show, but the show becomes a meaningful moment in their decision-making process.

Marketing the Right Couples

Brian Mills:
How are you actually marketing the show?

Mark Bentley:
Overwhelmingly digital — Google Ads, Meta ads, TikTok. What’s interesting is that about 70% of tickets are purchased by the bride herself. That surprised me early on, but the data is very consistent.

These are motivated couples. They’re actively planning, not just browsing.

Looking Ahead in Vegas

Brian Mills:
You’re clearly not planning this as a one-off. What does the future look like?

Mark Bentley:
If January is successful, we’d like to add an August show. If that goes well, eventually we could see quarterly shows. But we’ll make those decisions with the community.

Beyond shows, we care a lot about community — networking events, coffee meetups, social media spotlights. The show is one tool, not the whole toolbox.

Introductory Pricing

Brian Mills:
There’s also an introductory offer you are offering to Vegas Wedding Chamber Members for this first Las Vegas show. Also, if Vendors are waiting this first one out, but plan to participate in the next one, you are offering an incentive to start with this first show. Can you tell us more about that?

Mark Bentley:
The current price is $1,500 with a $250 discount ($1,250 total). We are doubling the discount to $500 ($1000 total) for anyone who is a member of the Vegas Wedding Chamber . Final Thoughts

I didn’t have this conversation to convince anyone to sign up.

I had it because Las Vegas needs honest discussions about what works, what doesn’t, and what comes next. You’ve now heard directly from Mark Bentley about how he thinks about bridal shows, Vegas, and trust.

I will say I knew he wanted to offer a discount, but I was not expecting doubling the discount for our Members vs. discounts he offered other new vendors. Also, the fact that getting in the show now will lead to a lower price later than Vendors that wait until the next show deserves consideration. I would say that if I had to place a bet on the future of the show, The Las Vegas Wedding Show is not going to be a one-and-done. Mark definitely sees this as a long game, and he has a very successful number of shows and events in North Carolina that gives him the flexibility to continue or even increase his investment in our Las Vegas Wedding Industry.

Jason and Shirley met during job retraining in the USAF in Biloxi, MS. They were in the same class, and it was love at first sight . It only took 8 months of long-distance dating (Jason was stationed in San Antonio and Shirley was in Hawaii) for him to pop the question .

What really sealed it for Jason was when Shirley visited for Thanksgiving 2003. He took her on a motorcycle ride and, due to issues out of his control, they crashed. She flew into the ditch and he broke his collar bone. Thankfully, she was unscratched, but Jason had to spend the night in the hospital and Shirley took care of him for the rest of her stay . She stood by him, was not mad at the situation, and showed her love through her actions. Jason called his mom and dad the day Shirley flew back to Hawaii and told them he was going to marry her.

On February 14, 2004, they were married on the steps of the Bexar County courthouse in San Antonio at midnight. While the ceremony was commencing, it started snowing. They knew it was meant to be.

They always said they would have a real wedding, but the Air Force, three kids, deployments, and training prevented it. Jason and Shirley have had a great 21 years of marriage , raising great kids together and surviving a lot of challenges. Now, they get to have the Wedding they always wanted.

On March 25, 2025 , members of the Vegas Chamber descended on Carson City for the largest trade delegation in Nevada’s legislative history. The 2025 Legislative Day offered professionals and business leaders across Southern Nevada a chance to engage directly with lawmakers and advocate for smart policy that supports the state’s economic growth. It was a remarkable display of solidarity and intent. Across sectors like healthcare, education, labor, economic development, and especially tourism, their members ensured that the voice of the business community resonated powerfully.

Among those leaders was our very own Government Affairs Director, Greg Lynskey , proudly representing the Vegas Wedding Chamber . The Board of Directors unanimously voted to fund Greg’s travel , recognizing the importance of having the wedding industry’s voice represented in legislative conversations. With years of experience as a federal lobbyist in Washington, D.C. , Greg brought a seasoned, strategic approach to the day’s meetings—ensuring that elected officials didn’t just hear our story, but remembered it.

1. Tourism is Still a Top Legislative Priority—and Weddings Are Front and Center

Greg posed a direct question to Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro about Nevada’s commitment to tourism , specifically noting the vital role weddings play in drawing visitors to the state. Senator Cannizzaro responded affirmatively, recalling the immense challenges lawmakers faced during the COVID shutdown and emphasizing her intent to avoid budget decisions that would once again harm the tourism sector.

What It Means for the Wedding Industry: Legislative awareness of our sector is high—and that's crucial. Nevada weddings bring in billions of dollars annually through hospitality, venues, vendors, and travel. The more our leaders recognize weddings as an economic driver, the more likely we are to benefit from tourism-focused funding, infrastructure, and marketing support.

2. Long-Term Allies in State Leadership

Throughout the day, Greg connected with several key figures who have deep ties to the wedding community. Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony reaffirmed his support for the Wedding Chamber and offered to help in any way he could. In addition, State Treasurer Zach Conine —who played a founding role in the Chamber’s early days as our Treasurer—was on hand and eager to reconnect.

What It Means for the Wedding Industry: Having long-standing allies in high places ensures our needs don’t fall through the cracks. Community Outreach Report - Project 150's Prom Closet Project a HUGE Success

Huge THANK YOU to all those who supported the Vegas Wedding Chamber's partnership with Project 150's Prom Closet earlier this year.

The Vegas Wedding Chamber had an extended partnership with Project 150, a local organization that provides support and services to homeless, displaced, and disadvantaged high school students so they can remain in school, graduate, and build bright futures.

Each year Project 150 hosts a "Prom Closet" in which local teens can select prom attire & accessories for their special night. This year the Vegas Wedding Chamber rallied together & collected donations through January & February to provide over $15,000 worth of new & gently used formal wear, shoes & accessories for Vegas teens to attend prom in style. The donations were delivered to Project 150 via a Sondra Falk Couture van driven by company co-owner & Vegas Wedding Chamber Vice President, Stephen Falk along with Community Outreach Director Charity Mills.

As event specialists the Vegas Wedding Chamber Community Outreach team knows that there are always special details that can be added to enhance any occasion. Members of the Vegas Wedding Chamber & other community friends provided vouchers for those special touches that were distributed to deserving teens on March 4, 2023 at the Prom Closet event. The vouchers were valid immediately all the way through prom season of late May-June 2023.

Local professionals such as Asia Zamora of Sweet Hair by Asia & Shaina Lopez, cosmetology instructor at Avalon School of Beauty dolled up a teen girl with beautiful hair & make up. Taheerah Taylor of Flower by Designs prepared fresh floral wrist corsages & matching boutonnieres. Sondra Falk of Sondra Falk Couture did a dress alteration that made a young lady look like a movie star. Alan Goya of Alan Goya Photography met up with a family in the Valley of Fire to capture stunning images of a young lady on her prom day that she will cherish forever. Menge Berhe of Kaptyn limos arranged for transportation for one exceptional student named Naomi who graduated this year with a 5.0 GPA & a resume that wows! She and 8 of her friends were picked up at her home and driven to prom in a stretched limousine. Naomi sent photos of her & her friends in the car & at the dance & thanked Community Outreach Director Charity Mills for arranging the limo for her and her friends and said “we’ll remember this night forever.”

The Vegas Wedding Chamber, a non-profit organization that represents the Las Vegas wedding industry, recently announced a donation of over $20,000 in clothing and goods to Project 150 Prom Closet 2023. This donation will be used to provide formal attire and accessories to underprivileged high school students for their prom night.

Project 150 is a local charity that helps homeless, displaced, and underprivileged students in the Las Vegas area. The Prom Closet program offers students a boutique-style retail experience in which they can select from a variety of dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories to wear to their prom. The program not only allows students to feel beautiful
and confident on their special night, but it also helps to alleviate the financial burden that often comes with purchasing formal wear. The Vegas Wedding Chamber’s contribution to Project 150 is a testament to the organization’s commitment to giving back to the local community.

It also emphasizes the importance of supporting organizations that prioritize youth education and empowerment. Wedding Chamber Members Support Prom Closet

The Vegas Wedding Chamber of Commerce (VWCC) is a group of wedding industry professionals who are dedicated to promoting their industry and supporting the local community. One of the ways that they are doing this is by collecting donations for Project 150 Prom Closet, an initiative that provides prom attire to high school students who are homeless or in need.

Project 150 Prom Closet is an important program for high school students who are facing difficult circumstances. Many of these students do not have the resources to purchase a prom dress or tuxedo, which can be a source of stress and embarrassment. By providing prom attire, Project 150 is helping to ensure that these students can participate in this special event and feel confident and proud.

The VWCC members are collecting donations of gently used prom dresses, shoes, jewelry, and accessories, as well as new unopened makeup and beauty products. The locations map can be accessed through pass.fivemillionlovestories.com or through a QR code at each location throughout downtown and the world-famous Strip.

Couples may enter once per location for the chance to win a variety of prizes. The locations are:

With the direction of the Las Vegas Wedding Chamber of Commerce’s Community Outreach Director, Charity Griego, we were able to coordinate a massive donation to SafeNest . A special thank you to Marilyn LoPresti of SafeNest who helped schedule this event.

SafeNest has been at the forefront of ending domestic violence in Southern Nevada for 44 years. Across all programs, SafeNest provides direct services to more than 20,000 clients across Clark County annually.

On Monday, December 6th, the Las Vegas Wedding Chamber of Commerce made a donation in support of the 23rd Annual 98.5 KLUC Toy Drive for the Chet Buchannan show with Kayla. It was awesome to help support the kids in our local community.

Even though it was a bit chilly at 7 am, it was well worth it as our Chamber president Jason Whaley was interviewed on the show!

VGK Cheerleader Gets Married at WildHorse, Chance Crashes the Party

Las Vegas Wedding Chamber of Commerce member Hollie Cardinal Photography photographed a wedding at the WildHorse Golf Club for a beautiful bride. However, this one was unique.

The bride is a VGK (Vegas Golden Knights) Cheerleader! Although many guests were family and close friends, and of course VGK Staff. What struck Hollie as something quite amazing and as a show of genuine character and pure heart, the bride reserved several seats especially for her special needs friends who she couldn’t imagine entering her next journey in life without including.

This was so touching and special. The way the bride stopped her big day, made sure to give any attention that they gave her during any moment of the night, allowing them to dance, take over the mic and even photobomb a very special appearance by Chance, the VGK Mascot!

LVWCC members at the wedding included the wedding venue, Wildhorse Golf Club , the DJ, DJ Harry A., and the photographer, Hollie Cardinal Photography .

Brittany is part of a couple of nonprofit organizations here in Las Vegas and loves helping out those in need and those with disabilities. Her mother was a single mother after her dad passed away years ago and she had so many people (friends parents, family friends, etc) to help her/them out at times. Brittany feels it’s the right thing to do by giving back.

Tyler works at Henderson Hospital. He’s a doctor of physical therapy, and also enjoys helping those in need.

The Las Vegas Wedding Chamber of Commerce held our June 2021 Educational Luncheon event at Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar located in beautiful Town Square on Wednesday, June 16th.

Attendees enjoyed a fantastic presentation of Fleming’s Chilled Seafood Tower followed by a mouth-watering meal prepared by the chefs at Fleming’s served at a fabulous sit-down lunch in their main dining room.

The featured keynote speaker was Brianna Michelle for an educational presentation that introduced easy and effective ways to attract and book more couples using Instagram without the task feeling overwhelming. Brianna Michelle is a highly respected wedding business coach and mentor, the CEO of Brianna Michelle Beauty, LLC as well as a multi-award-winning makeup artist from both The Knot and Wedding Wire.

Want to make sure you don’t have any surprises on your wedding day? I mean, what’s worse than a melted cake, a DJ getting drunk and turning your reception into his personal karaoke concert, a photographer showing up in a Budweiser shirt and flip-flops, your photo booth resembling the Home Depot clearance rack or worse of all, one of your vendors not showing up at all!EVERYTHING listed above are things we’ve actually seen happen to unsuspecting couples. Truth. Sure we only provide photo booth rentals, but these tips should be applied to every professional you’re considering hiring.

Tip 1: Be Sure They’re a Real Company

If your vendor isn’t licensed and insured, there’s a good chance your venue won’t even allow them on site. (If this happens, don’t expect them to willingly refund your money either!)

Unfortunately, it’s all too easy for anyone to print a few business cards, steal a couple of photos from Google Images and launch a website. Many scammers do just this, but more than scammers are folks with the best of intentions, but just aren’t cut out for business ownership and don’t understand why they can’t call in sick if they or their kids don’t feel well.

Tip 2: Ask How Long Have They’ve Been Around

Can a company that opened two weeks do a good job? Absolutely! Should you take that risk with your wedding? No . As #Amazeballs as Smash Booth is, we’ll admit there was about a year where we were still cutting our teeth and learning the ropes. Any company that’s been around less than 2 years is risky, especially for a wedding.

Tip 3: Check Their Instagram

The wedding industry is fun and loud and colorful and your wedding vendor should have an active Instagram, especially your photo booth. Take a look and see what they’re posting. Hopefully you’ll see a history of them performing at weddings with samples of their set-up or work. Be weary of any company using stock photos on their Instagram.

Tip 4: Check Their Online Reviews

Checking referrals used to be quite an ordeal.Luckily in today’s world you can quickly see what past couples have thought about each vendor. Check out their Yelp, Wedding Wire or Knot review pages to make sure they’re reputable. SO many catastrophies could have been avoided if clients just took a moment to read a couple reviews. FYI: Despite what many poorly reviewed companies may tell you, Yelp WILL NOT remove negative reviews if a company pays them to, agrees to advertise with them, or whatever else they may tell you. If a company has no poor reviews, it’s because they’re awesome, not because they pay Yelp. They WILL remove a companies entire page upon request however. Ask yourself, “Why would this company ask Yelp to remove their page?”. The only reason is because they had too many negative reviews. If a company has no Yelp page, RUN .

Tip 5: Avoid the Budget Booth

Why is there such a large spread in pricing between Photo Booth Companies? The same reason there is in all industries.You can hire the college kid with a bottle of all purpose cleaner and a roll of paper towels, or the reputable, reviewed cleaning service who’s insured, fully trains their staff and performs background checks to insure your safety. You can hire an uber and never quite be sure who’s going to show up and what condition their car will be in, or, you can hire a limo, meticulously cleaned, fully stocked with screened drivers. Sure, there’s a time and a place to hire the college kid or to take an Uber, but your wedding isn’t it.Look, we all love to save a few bucks, but if it’s too good to be true… Well, you know what they say. If a company is charging less than half the price of their competition, chances are they won’t be in business when your celebration comes around. We see it EVERY year. A ton of new companies come in, charge half the price of the reputable businesses and inevitably, go out of business after about 8 months to a year. If your wedding is in the next few months, you MAY be safe. But seriously, this is your wedding, don’t take the risk to save a few bucks. When quality and dependability matter, don’t take chances. Only hire professionals. Choose the limo.

So, you’ve learned to only hire licensed and insured, companies who have been around for a couple years and have a reputable reputation. If they’re reputable, the LVWCC can get them vetted and added in just a couple days. Here’s what you should know about taking a tradition and putting a twist on it to make it a part of your own unique love story:

Picking Out Your Wedding Bands:
