Honoring Heroes with Weddings of a Lifetime: Vegas Marries the Military 2025

Brian Mills • October 2, 2025

The Vegas Wedding Chamber unites the wedding community to honor service members and veterans with unforgettable ceremonies and a grand reception.

Group of people celebrate at a party, gathered around a cake with an American flag.

On November 6, 2025, Las Vegas will welcome seven military couples for Vegas Marries the Military 2025—a community outreach initiative of the Vegas Wedding Chamber that gifts complimentary weddings and vow renewals to U.S. service members and veterans. Powered by 50+ Las Vegas wedding vendors and venues, the program pairs each couple with a donated ceremony and day-of media coverage to capture every moment.

Daytime ceremonies will be hosted at some of the Wedding Capital of the World’s most iconic locations, including The Stirling Club, Little Church of the West, Love Story Wedding Chapel, Hitchin’ Post Wedding Chapel, Paradise Wedding Chapel, Little Chapel of Hearts, and Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. That evening, all couples and guests will come together for a citywide celebration at the Vegas Event Center (1201 Las Vegas Blvd. S.), joined by dignitaries, sponsors, and industry partners who make this event possible.

The 2025 honorees represent the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, bringing to Las Vegas stories of resilience, sacrifice, and lasting love. With donated venues, flowers, officiants, photography, videography, and social media content creation, each couple will receive a full wedding experience—reflecting the Chamber’s mission to uplift our military community and showcase the strength of Las Vegas’ wedding industry.

Honoring Seven Remarkable Love Stories

The couples chosen for Vegas Marries the Military 2025 bring with them stories that reflect the resilience of military life and the strength of lasting love. They represent different branches of the U.S. Armed Forces — Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps — and come from across the nation, from Indiana to Washington. Some will marry for the first time, while others will renew their vows after decades together. Each has faced challenges, whether deployments, injuries, or family sacrifices, and each now looks forward to a wedding day they never thought possible.

Meet the 7 Winning Couples of Vegas Marries the Military 2025

Kris & Mike Gray

Branch of Service: U.S. Marine Corps (Mike)

 Hometown: Ft, Worth, Texas
Ceremony Type: Vow Renewal of 6 Years
Venue:
Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel

Kris and Mike Gray’s story began in 2015, when a first date turned into a 15-hour adventure and the start of a lifetime together. For Mike, service has always been at the heart of his life: a third-generation Marine, he proudly followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, serving four years as an Ammo Tech. Even after his time in uniform, his commitment to the Corps continues, as he mentors young men considering military service.

On November 6, 2019, Kris and Mike were legally married in a simple courthouse ceremony with the dream of one day having the full wedding celebration they envisioned. Twice, they planned elaborate ceremonies at Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis, only to see them canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. Their plans for a dream wedding — complete with family, friends, vows, and photos — were put on hold indefinitely.

Now, after years of waiting, the couple will finally get their special day. Fittingly, Kris and Mike will exchange vows at the legendary Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, with Elvis presiding. For a Marine who values tradition and a bride who has long dreamed of this moment, the ceremony will be both a tribute to their resilience and a joyful new chapter in their love story.

Nicolet and Billy Porter, Jr.

Branch of Service: U.S. Air Force (Billy)
Hometown: Las Vegas, NV
Ceremony Type:
Vow Renewal
Venue:
Little Church of the West

Billy Palmer has dedicated more than 16 years to the U.S. Air Force, serving as an E-5 with four deployments overseas. His service has been recognized with numerous awards and decorations, including the Air and Space Overseas Service Ribbon, the AF Good Conduct Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. Inspired by his father — a Purple Heart veteran — and a family legacy of sacrifice, Billy joined the Air Force seeking structure, purpose, and a chance to serve something greater than himself.

Nicolet has been by his side since their college days. Their first date at Red Lobster in rural Alabama marked the beginning of a love story that has spanned nearly two decades. When Billy’s Air Force career brought him to Las Vegas, Nicolet transferred to UNLV to finish her degree, sacrificing her own timeline for the life they wanted to build together. The two were married on the Las Vegas Strip quietly, without the ceremony Nicolet had always dreamed of.

Now, after 15 years of marriage and raising four children together, Nicolet and Billy will finally celebrate the wedding they never had. Their vow renewal at the historic Little Church of the West will not only honor Billy’s service but also commemorate the strength of a love that endured distance, deployments, and the tests of time. For the Palmers, Las Vegas will once again be the backdrop of their story — this time with the wedding day they deserve.

Their reconnection blossomed into a partnership full of energy, laughter, and love — and now, they’re ready to officially tie the knot.

Jason & Shirley Robinson

Branch of Service: U.S. Air Force Ret.  (Jason), USAF & Dept. of War  (Shirley)
Hometown:
Las Vegas, Nevada
Ceremony Type:
Renewal of Vows
Venue:
Paradise Wedding Chapel

Jason and Shirley met during job retraining in the USAF in Biloxi, MS. They were in the same class, and it was love at first sight. It only took 8 months of long-distance dating (Jason was stationed in San Antonio and Shirley was in Hawaii) for him to pop the question.

What really sealed it for Jason was when Shirley visited for Thanksgiving 2003. He took her on a motorcycle ride and, due to issues out of his control, they crashed. She flew into the ditch and he broke his collar bone. Thankfully, she was unscratched, but Jason had to spend the night in the hospital and Shirley took care of him for the rest of her stay. She stood by him, was not mad at the situation, and showed her love through her actions. Jason called his mom and dad the day Shirley flew back to Hawaii and told them he was going to marry her.

On February 14, 2004, they were married on the steps of the Bexar County courthouse in San Antonio at midnight. While the ceremony was commencing, it started snowing. They knew it was meant to be.

They always said they would have a real wedding, but the Air Force, three kids, deployments, and training prevented it.  Jason and Shirley have had a great 21 years of marriage, raising great kids together and surviving a lot of challenges. Now, they get to have the Wedding they always wanted.

On March 25, 2025 , members of the Vegas Chamber descended on Carson City for the largest trade delegation in Nevada’s legislative history. The 2025 Legislative Day offered professionals and business leaders across Southern Nevada a chance to engage directly with lawmakers and advocate for smart policy that supports the state’s economic growth. It was a remarkable display of solidarity and intent. Across sectors like healthcare, education, labor, economic development, and especially tourism, their members ensured that the voice of the business community resonated powerfully. Among those leaders was our very own Government Affairs Director, Greg Lynskey , proudly representing the Vegas Wedding Chamber . The Board of Directors unanimously voted to fund Greg’s travel , recognizing the importance of having the wedding industry’s voice represented in legislative conversations. With years of experience as a federal lobbyist in Washington, D.C. , Greg brought a seasoned, strategic approach to the day’s meetings—ensuring that elected officials didn’t just hear our story, but remembered it. Here are 5 highlights from the day—and why they matter to everyone in the Las Vegas wedding industry .
